Karpathos is a paradise for wind addicts: Chicken Bay for beginners and Gun Bay for intermediates and experts. Gun Bay is a true high-wind spot where you can let off steam and forget the rest of the world. The flat water near the shore is perfect for practising jibes and the spit off the coast guarantees your safety. Those who are looking for a real challenge can surf out of Gun Bay to Paradise Bay - a bay which definitely deserves its name. Here the wind is about 1-2 Beaufort stronger and the perfectly flat water delivers superb blasting conditions. Due to an 80-metre wide shallow water area, Chicken Bay offers ideal conditions for beginners, intermediates and freestylers. The wind comes from the north-east and blows cross offshore from the left. The high wind in Gun Bay creates a 1-metre wave after 300 meters which is suitable for both jumping novices and experts. In Chicken Bay the wind also blows cross offshore but with 1-2 Beaufort less force.

FOR FREERIDER, BUMP & JUMP, HARNESS AND FOOTSTRAPS - WINDSURF SPOT CHICKEN BAY & MAIN CENTER

  • Chicken Bay: shallow and flat water, ideal for learning to use footstraps and harness.
  • Main Center: cross-offshore from left, waterstart, footstraps required, flat water in front of the centre, after about 500 meters up to 1 metre chop, ideal for jumping.
  • Possibility to surf to Paradise Bay (flat water, stronger wind than at main centre).
  • Or to Chicken Bay (flat, shallow water, lighter wind).
  • Possibility to move between main centre and Chicken Bay centre at any time.

FREESTYLE, OLD & NEW SCHOOL TRICKS - WINDSURF SPOT CHICKEN BAY & MAIN CENTER

  • Ideal at both spots.
  • Chicken Bay: flat, shallow water, sandy beach, wind cross offshore from left, less windy than main centre.
  • Main Center: flat water in front of the centre and in Paradise Bay (stronger wind), chop up to 1 - 500 meters from the shore.

WAVE NOVICES, WATERSTART, JIBE & TACK - WINDSURF SPOT MAIN CENTER

  • No shorebreak, chop up to 1 meter in strong wind about 500 meters from the shore, good for jumping, no wave riding.

WAVE EXPERTS, WATERSTART, JIBE & TACK, JUMPS, WAVE-RIDING - WINDSURF SPOT MAIN CENTER

  • No shorebreak, chop up to 1 metre in strong wind about 500 meters from the shore, good for jumping, no wave riding.
KIDS CLUB
 
The children's club is available at an additional charge and is open to kids up until the age of 12 from 9:30-12:30 and from 14:20-18:30 every day. Situated close to the beach, and right next to the windsurf centre, the kids club has its own playground and shaded outdoor area. Extra hours and evening hours are possible for an extra charge on request. 

Foil-training is available at this centre. Minimum level for windsurf-foil-training: windsurfing in footstraps with harness and good
planning skills.

Semi-private lessons are offered with a maximum of two people and ensure fast progression. Your course includes board, sail, wetsuit, life jacket and insurance.

  • Damage Insurance is not included and should be paid locally 

    For windsurf rental of equipment, you may be required to produce a VDWS/IKO/RYA or equivalent licence to prove your ability to rent (For Egypt this is mandatory, and if unable to provide you will need to do a skills test and pay for a licence locally)

    For rental of equipment, you may be required to produce a VDWS/IKO/RYA or equivalent licence to prove your ability to rent (For Egypt this is mandatory, and if unable to provide you will need to do a skills test and pay for a licence locally)
